Q: Why do some peope hate government or goverment programs?
If small amount of our tax dollars can make big benefits to society, why do people fight it? One example is that some people hate the idea of a government subsidy to the consumer for hybrid cars. Won't that bring huge benefits by reducing our dependence on oil, for starters? I could think of many examples, but the point is that government programs like that go a long way to mitigate the ills of our society. Another example: tax dollars to fund public transit (reduces traffic congestion) Imagine what societies would be like with no government. I think we'd have a handful of super rich people, almost everyone else would be poor; we'd have no roads or schools; we'd have lots of crime because we'd have no police; we'd have no fire department. I could go on. So why do people spew anti-government sound bites like "Why should I help pay for your hybrid car?"
Yes, I talked about both local government issues and federal government issues. OK, so if people hate the federal government and local government is OK, then why don't the people who spew anti-government sound bites advocate dissolving federal and state governments? We would have no nation, just a group of unaffiliated small towns?
A: The purpose of government is to protect my rights — end of story. using taxpayer dollars for programs as you state is an immoral abuse of governmental authority.
Those who advocate for such measures tend to think with their hearts instead of their heads. But using tax payer money for your pet projects is coercion not good will
Q: Are you aware of these proposed tax changes?
Suzi- I read the WHOLE thing- it affects me. You would be wise to read the whole thing as well.
A: That's what happens when you vote for an inexperienced person who hasn't even lived in the USA all his life
WAKE UP AMERICA
and dont forget obamas plan to send that 8 billion to Africa
Q: What would you do to stimulate the US economy?
I would give a one time $10000 tax break to anyone purchasing a new hybrid vehicle to revive the auto industry and reduce reliance on foriegn oil. remove the federal gas tax and replace those lost funds with a $2.50 tax per pack on cigars and cigarrettes.
A: I would lower taxes on small businesses so they could grow and in turn, hire more people. The more folks working, the more folks spending and paying taxes.
I would also displace a few caribou and drill for oil in Alaska. More jobs.
Then lighten up on restrictions that won't allow oil companies to build more refineries. More jobs.
Q: Toyota Camry Hybrid - Dealer Extras?
Does anyone know if I should be paying dealer extras? I negotiated the TCh for $1000 over the dealer invoice but then they hit me with the following:
Toyota Marketing Fund (T.M.F) - $304
Toyota Adertising Fund (T.A.F) - $428
Base - Veh - HB (Dealer Holdback) - $518
PIO - HB (Pre Installed Options Holdback) - $156
Finance Reserve - $259
Does anyone know if I should be paying for these? The dealer says that all people pay for it. I am not sure. Please help!
A: Toyota Marketing Fund (T.M.F) - $304
---I don't know what this is, but it's probably similar to a dealer fee
Toyota Adertising Fund (T.A.F) - $428
--- Same thing here. But then again, isn't advertising and marketing the same thing?
Base - Veh - HB (Dealer Holdback) - $518
PIO - HB (Pre Installed Options Holdback) - $156
Finance Reserve - $259
---These are all holdback. You don't typically see them in line item charge. They are typically in the paragraph on the invoice, and you normaly don't see them.
Where did this invoice price some from? If it came from Edmunds.com or consumer reports, then that invoice price may or may not have had the hold back shown in there.
If you feel funny about the deal, goto another dealer. Most dealers aren't negotiating on the Hybrids, so if you got anything off the sticker, then it would seem like a good deal on the surface. But then again, they may have shown you a price knowing that you were going to shop them, and then when you come back, hit you with these charges to recoupe what they were missing out on with the original pencil.

Q: What will be the future of two-dimensional animation or 2D, in the animated film and video game arcade?
The 2D animation in recent times has achieved remarkable progress to merge with 3D animation. The computer has facilitated significant progress when it seemed to have reached an impasse. The spectacular achieved in films like Titan AE, Castle Ambulante, Treasure Planet, The Road toElDorado, Sinbad, or Spirit, to mention some of them, a few years ago was unthinkable.
Some think that, somehow, traditional animation has already begun to die, because although drawings continue 2D drawings, with the support 3D technology is becoming larger. But surely continue for long.
Although since July 2003, have not developed new films 2D animation in the U.S. after Spirit, Treasure Planet, Titan A. E., While in Asia, and especially the Japanese animation, things are very different. The computer is completing entering, while in the West already had in the 1980's movies that use the computer, like Basil mouse super detective Disney of 86, where his final scene, while Big Ben, the elements mechanics are 3D computer. In Asia, only after completing the second half of 1990, begins to make its appearance and timidly, Princess Mononoke, Hayao Miyazaqui and Los Ghibli animation studios, has only 15 minutes where the computer makes its appearance. Currently, has undergone a major expansion, but adapted to the rigid production processes in place of cel shading, but not 3D, as in Spirited Away My neighbors or those Yamada, fully digital, despite being 2D.
In other cases, the computer takes over the mechanical elements, funds and colored, blending with traditional 2D characters, as in the series which follow the established aesthetic in Blue Submarine No. 6, whose nearest example could be reached Spain Sol Bianca . Even the 3D, pure and simple, this introduced by Japan.
Does the evolution of the traditional 2d animation, which now develop hybrid 2D/3D movies, will lead to 3D digital animation films that succeed in giving a 3D animation finished 2D, as the upcoming "Rapunzel" and "Up!" Disney to develop, and this with Pixar, and that seem animated watercolors?
In Dreamworks on the contrary everything you make from 2009 will be in 3D, supported by technical and stereoscopic not be new animated films such as hybrid Spirit, Sinbad or anything like that (if indeed someone was waiting for him), due to closure 2D its division by the failure of the animated film Sinbad.
The explosion of novelty, the 3D potential and has come to stay. There will be a fad, but over time, the 2D return covered at the end of the boom and nostalgia at the time.
Or rather, as stated the web Dreamers, over time, the waters again on track, and different types of animation including coexist and complement, and animation will open up new avenues.
In video game arcades like something is happening,
Games like "Rumble Fish" and "Bttle Fantasy", were designed by the same people who revolutionized sprites, with the drawn Hi - Re, Apartado 1998 with the arcade "Guilty Gear", with works like "Fist of Northern Star" . Sammy and Dimps have worked some more arcades, with drawn sprites, before concentrating its work on the estates and drawn with Cell Shading. Even knew that sooner or later sprites or 2D bitmaps, as elements of drawing, would be dead.
Capcom has become Street Fighter game in a hybrid between 2D and 3D gaming, in its fourth issue, with polygonal graphics and cell shading, because according to them "sprites in high definition involve an impossible job." Street Fighter IV has impacted, but still fall far short of what we achieved today sprites or 2D bitmaps…
It has developed long ago, polygonal graphics of single plane or scroll motion, and we have seen interesting things like: Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer, Ultimate Ghosts' N Goblins, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2, Bionic Commando rearmament , Raiden III, or Battle Fantasia, that inspired designers Street Fighter IV
While it is true, do not achieve quality graphics, which now gets a good design or bitmaps 2D sprites, because it takes a few polygons and textures worked to achieve very beautiful graphics, which often is not achieved, getting only photo realism. Cell-shading, not today equates to a drawing plane, because however much they place the camera in a single plane side, is complicated polygonal disguise the origin of the characters, or objects that make up the different scenarios of arcades, On the other pate , A game in fact you do not need the 3d animation Fluid in the arcades that get drawn sprites with Al 2D or 3D bitmaps still lacks naturalness. Although it is expected to be improved technically and ending finished giving a more artistic.
Some sites, such as forums and EOL Gamercafe, speculate on the possibility that, when Cell Shading improved significantly more in the future, for polygonal graphics in real time, who knows if you can emulate a chart or 2D sprites bitmaps, or even get to overcome if it is worth.
What do Vdes. on this whole issue of traditional animated films and video games of sprites or 2D bitmaps? I suppose that both will go hand in hand, aunuqe do not know if the game industry is moving behind the animated film being an industry where less and less invested in their development and innovation.
A: Wow, that was a long description. I'm afraid that I won't be able to post as such compared to yours and yet here I am, typing. I think that you have already answered your own question, maybe you want someone to clarify or uphold your belief? Well, here I am. I don't know what to say yet, but let me be spontaneous.
I had [have rather...as I still play most of them] some games with 2d like Melty Blood, Arcana Heart, Metal Slug, Street Fighter, Sonic and like what you have mentioned, Rumble Fish [which has nothing to do with fishes at all!]. For their graphics and appearance likewise, I'd look at it but only secondly to its plot or storyline. The plot is more important, and the playability! Let's say Metal Slug for example, despite its 2d-ness, people liked it for its game style and infinite ammo. It will be a classic, an epic. Times are moving fast, I'm not a fortune teller so I would not be able to tell whether the people in our society will forget about these things. Maybe yes, maybe no. I for one will not, I bet on it.
So yes, it's past millennium, it's 2008, and some people are greedy or are in need of money. I guess that is the reason why companies try to get in with the modern world and follow its pleas of new things and much more "pleasant" outcomes. Despite of how much people liked their 2d, they would still have to earn money and continue forth. Try asking some eleven year olds or somehow any much younger ones, they probably wouldn't know what or who Sonic is! [for an example only].
Either way, 2d may never be forgotten. It may have a comeback or clash in combination with 3d [like what you said] but it could also perish...and we may never see it again, but I doubt it.
We'll see it again. I'm hopeful of seeing much of it again in the future. ;D
Q: What bout this Solution to get the US off of gas dependency.?
Why doesn’t the Government fund a contest like the $10 million "Ansari X Prize", which was a contest that awarded to the first privately-funded group which launches a pilot and two passengers (or the equivalent in ballast) into space, and then repeats the feat within two weeks?
They can award $10 million to the first privately-funded group which can create a gas engine that is able to get 250 miles to the gallon. Combine this with batteries like the Hybrid cars and the rest is history.
If we can send a rocket to mars and land two machines that continue still to roll around and send us pictures I think we can create an engine that is able to get 250 miles to the gallon what do you think?
What’s more important, less gas dependency and health care or being the first country to waste 45 billion dollars to be the 1st to Pluto?
A: Someone already did invent an engine that ran on something other than gas. It was covered up years ago and set on a shelf. Because of the "financial repercussions of putting so many people out of business", so the excuse was at the time.
Obviously we should be spending more on becoming less dependent on oil and I certainly think the health care crisis in this nation is more important than seeing how much money they can possibly waste in the space program...good program, but other pressing needs are being ignored!
Q: Should windfall oil profits be taxed and used to fund alternative energy?
The technology already exists to make cars from composite material (thread and nylon laminate) which is stronger than steel but weighs 1/4 less than steel.
Horizontal wind generators and /or solar cells on everyone's rooftop will charge batteries in our garages.
Our hybrid gas/electric cars would recharge for free overnight
and gas consumption could easily drop by 75% for most city commuters. Many would never use the gas part of their hybrid at all.
The technology already exists. All we need is a democrat in office who will implement a real national energy policy instead of a "By the oil corp, for the oil corp" policy that the GOP insists on forcing on us.
A: ha ha ha ha.... sure, tax the 8 cents collected on a dollar's sale of gas and do nothing about the 42 cents of government taxes collected. But let me tell you when you do:
A) It has a similar effect to taxing cigarettes for health insurance. The consumption (and in the case of oil production) goes down, which means the revenue goes down, which means the program you were funding has less money to work with if it does not get shut down entirely like many health initiatives were after the billion dollar lawsuits against the tobacco companies during the Clinton administration.
B) Or every American can get their wish and oil prices will go down. It happened in the early 80s, when oil drastically dropped down to $10 a barrel. The result was that the windfall profits taxes left by Carter actually ended up COSTING the government money because the revenue fell so low the taxes collected were scant, and in the process numerous oil company employees lost their jobs. This severely drained the economy as it contributed to higher unemployment, a loss of standard of living among many people who had been living just fine despite the poor status of the economy, and government was eventually forced to repeal the winfall profits tax just to get oil companies in a position where they could actually process enough in the refineries to meet demand.
You can blame it all on the GOP, but when you're waiting for gas in a line for two hours like people were during the Carter administration because of price gouging, a prime example of what happens when the government interferes in the free market to place a price ceiling on consumables, you will miss the days of the evil oil companies reign. And in the meantime the lowered sales and loss of revenues will back up development, just like it did as a result of Carter's policies, and that is why the US is still not energy independent to this day.
Even under optimal conditions it will be another 15 years before it could be energy independent anyway, provided the pointless corn subsidies stop and people start growing sugar cane like Brazil (and that took 35 years to wean them off of imported oil), so don't expect things to be extremely different even if Obama is in charge for two administrations when he leaves. Technological development requires capital and innovation with minimal government direction, the misapplication of corn ethanol subsidies shows exactly how government often chooses the wrong technologies to invest in and actually ends up exacerbating other problems. The oil companies should invest in energy technology but they can't come up with enough money even if you allowed them to have no profit, and anyone with any sense knows doing that is just going to give them that much less of a reason to increase output, keeping the consumer price high and decreasing the revenue available for R &D.

Q: Can you help with the grammar mistakes in this essay please?
Can you help with the grammar mistakes in this essay please?
Growing up in the suburbs of the Motor City, I have been embedded with a few simple rules. 1.Always cheer for the Red Wings! 2. Never go to Detroit at night and 3. Drive American. In the past, these rules have been pretty easy to follow. The Wings just won the cup, so how could I not cheer for them. I can’t navigate my to Detroit in the daytime so I’ll never make it at night and I can’t afford a new car so I’ll have to stick with my Ford. In the future, these rules might be a little harder to follow since the big three are in deep trouble. Most of Metro Detroit’s work force are employed by the Big Three so naturally, the numerous layoffs and buyouts have been a huge subject of local concern.
Michigan’s economy rides with the auto industry. Through hills and valleys, Michigan succeeds or suffers along with the Big Three. Since the auto industry, especially the Big Three, hasn’t been doing well, Michigan as taken a direct hit. The economy has taken a turn for the worst causing a shortage in jobs and a meltdown in the housing market. Its not hard for me to see the effect this has on my friends and family. Every time an auto maker announces another round of cuts, grim faces start to pop up all around the place. Its painful to watch the once proud community fade along with the car makers.
Although a government bailout would prevent the automakers from going into bankruptcy now, it would only delay the inevitable. The government should provide more funds and resources to allow for the Big Three to further develop hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles. Some might argue that a government bailout is unfair in a consumer driven market, but this is not the case. Having more auto makers only puts more pressure on the other to effectively research and produce alternative fuel vehicles. The overall result would be a vast amount of non-gasoline dependant vehicles manufactured at a cheaper price that would be more affordable for the average consumer.
Consumers will eventually see more options of lower priced hybrid vehicles if the government enacts assistance for the Big Three. Communities and families that are built and depend on the domestic automakers will also benefit greatly. Although a government bailout is not the most fair of things to do, it would restore a once joyful community in a small town called Canton.
thanks
A: Overall, I rather liked it. You have several small grammatical errors. I'm not sure if it's because you REALLY have the errors, or typed too fast. The biggest overall problem I see is the first person in the first paragraph. In a formal essay, it's rarely used. Also, you then switch to third person. Check with your teacher to see if this is OK. Sometimes it is.
We'll take a look at your first paragraph. First, since this is a formal essay, I'd get rid of the numbers. Put a colon after rules and a semi-colon after your first two "rules".
-- Question mark here.
I can’t navigate my (WHAT?) to Detroit in the daytime so I’ll never make it at night and I can’t afford a new car so I’ll have to stick with my Ford.
In the future, these rules might be a little harder to follow since the big three (Capitalize) are in deep trouble. Most of Metro Detroit’s work force are (IS -- a work FORCE is singular) employed by the Big Three so naturally, the numerous layoffs and buyouts have been a huge subject of local concern.
OK you get the idea. Just go through it a little more closely.
TO HUSTONIAN: Generally I agree with you, but I think in this case, the request was appropriate. An essay had been written, work done, and just some minor grammar editing requested.
Q: Instead of a billions-of -dollars war budget for the middle east, why don't we subsidize electric cars?
The terrorists and and the destruction of our environment are separate problems, but both fueled by our use of gasoline automobiles. Both problems are destroying our civilization and we are stubidly feeding the frenzy every time we fill up. Why don't we NOT fund the terrorist countries and NOT ruin the environment, by just pulling out the troops and using the billions of dollars to subsidize electric and hybrid electric automobiles for Americans. Without oil money the middle east will have to build industries and become civilized in order to survive, instead of just buying terror weopons. And best of all, our grandchildren will be able to breathe and be alive and peaceful. And the effort to achieve these goals can be done with the "war" budget already in place. Can anyone tell me WHY NOT??
A: That's a great idea, good luck with destroying the arms and oil industries together though :-)...
It would not how ever solve the terrorism issue I'm afraid... They want to destroy the US, period, electric cars or not....

Q: Is the UK Health Institute Ltd a legitimate business?
I received an email from the UK Health Institute Ltd. They claim to be the industry leader in the supply of hybrid, plastic and metal cases with 510(k) clearance of Standard generic cases. UK Health Institute Ltd also claims to set the global standards and raising customer expectations of orthopedic excellence. They are asking for a contract to be signed for our cooperation in cashing checks in the US and then wiring the funds to another country using our personal bank accounts. For assisting them in this task, the person cashing the checks will take 10% of each check prior to sending it. It seems simple/good to be true. The company does not communicate via phone and is basically insistant on the individuals in the US use their personal or business bank accounts. If there is any way to validate the company and have someone or something to hold accountable I would like to know about it. Thank you.
A: Avoid! This sounds like one of the many scams perpetuated by email these days, similar to the Nigerian banking scams where they ask you to send them some money and you recieve 10 times as much back.
This may be kosher, but I`d seriously recommending avoiding any company that asks for your bank account details and offers you the chance to make easy money.
At best you may get into trouble for helping laundering money, at worst you could have your bank account emptied and maybe your identity stolen.
Avoid!
Q: Who supports Zero emmission ZEICE cars?
I beleive technology advancment can solve this problem in future.
But let me know who funds such reaserch activities in the USA?
Year 1987:Hybrid cars where in the laboratory .
Year 1997: Introduction of hybrid gas –electric cars to the market
(60 MPG)
Year 2009:Introduction of Plug –in hybrid cars to the market.(100MPG)
Now let us do a time travel to year 2015 when green house gas
emission is solved somehow:
Year 2015:Introduction of first Zero emission internal combustion
engine car (ZEICE) to the market.
Specifications of ZEICE car(car of the year 2015):
You go to fuel station you fill 20 liters of gasoline in your first
car tank, you fill 50 liters of CO2 absorbent liquid ( I call it now
magic liquid A) in your second car tank (Free of charge)
You drive 500 Km , to finish 20 liters of gasoline and in the
meantime CO2 recovery system of your car is absorbing 25 kg of CO2
(produced during 500km travel) by absorbent liquid A by using engine
heat and catalytic converter reactor.
So now you drive back to fuel station you drain 75 Kg saturated
liquid A in the fuel station saturated liquid A tank ,refill 50 Kg
of fresh liquid A plus 20 liters of gasoline in second tank for
another 500 Km trip! with no CO2 emissions.
So every fuel station has two more tanks of liquid A and saturated
liquid A and real CO2 recovery will be done either in fuel station
of in a larger plant.
So now again we come back to year 2007 , when this car and this
system has not yet been made.
A: Nice imagination...but...it appears we are a little too late in fixing the earth's problem.
With Asian economies adopting the Western capitalist system with fervor, there is no turning back anymore.
Earth must die a slow death now.
Too many people chasing too little fossil fuel.
I wish your thinking were right on target.
If only the inhabitants in the world could meet to discuss plans to try and change this tide.
I fear...will never happen.
Sometime circa 2200 a sign will be erected on what was the northern pole...will read...
"Dedicated to the stupidity of mankind".

A: Stock markets around the world are down 40% to 50% or more. Anybody who holds shares is likely to be affected. Remember, until you sell you have not really lost anything.
Some people see the down turn as an opportunity to buy. Others see it as an opportunity to sell, harvest a loss and then rebuy at a lower cost. This way they still hold the same number of shares in the company but now at a reduced cost per share and the loss is offset against other taxable income earned. This is a means of reducing one's tax bill in the current income year.
Investing in the stock market is generally a longer term situation. There is emperical evidence to show that over a period of ten to fifteen years or more, the investor who buys and holds for the longer duration will do better than the person you constantly buys and sells over the same period.
