Q: I want to read a good business book like Richard Bransons autobiography etc?
I am going on holiday for two weeks and whilst im sat around the pool I want a good book to read like Alan Sugars Autobioraphy or something down those lines. Any suggestions. Thanks

A: Anything by Sir John Harvey Jones, he's a better writer than the others.

Q: What is the best book to introduce my young student to the business world?
I have a student with an early high school reading level/attention span, who needs to become familiar with the workings of businesses, and (especially) business vocabulary. What book will give her a general overview of businesses and aspects of working in a company? I want to give her a good introduction, without overwhelming her with too many details. A book with a glossary of terms is preferable, and one with an interesting layout is much preferable to one that is simply pages and pages of text. Something like a textbook for a high school introduction class would be fine, if it's well organized and easy to read.

A: Try Dummies guide to business...seriously, it's a good book. I think it's called Starting a business for idiots. There's quite a few, try Amazon.

Q: If i were to purchase an insurance agency w/ a 2million dollar book of business, what could i expect to earn?
How much on average could i look to make off an agency w/ a book of business that large?

A: Your gross would probably be around $175K. After operating expenses, if you service the book yourself, you're probably bringing home around $100K. Maybe slightly less.

Q: What is the proper way to use citations when you are writing a business book? I have citations at th?
I have citations at the bottom of each page, but I need to know which format (MLA, APA, other) to use for these citations. Thanks.

A: Actually both MLA and APA have business style citation methods. Hope this website helps http://toby.library.ubc.ca/webpage/webpage.cfm?id=564

Q: Starting a business and need book on accounting?
I am planning to start a Nursery business growing plants and I am looking to find a good book to read about how to set up accounting for this type of business. Can anyone recommend a good book for the non-accounting professional? Maybe a little better than a "Dummies" book. Thanks I will look into software once I get a better idea of how best to set up the company. I am also looking for info on whether to do a LLC, C_Corp or S-Corp

A: You can start with searching only. There are a couple of good online accounting lectures / lessons which are free. Check out http://simplestudies.com or http://studiesfaction.com. I believe you do need to understand debits and credits to successfully use an accounting package. Even though such packages like QuickBooks are easy to understand, you still want to know what it does for you :) In terms of selecting the best legal form (LLC, etc.), check out nolo.com website as they have some good materials there. If you have a specific question about legal forms, feel free to post here.

Q: How to jump into the comic book business?
Well I am young 15, and extremely talented at drawing, I do other things besides drawing but none that I can show my creative side such as this. As being 15 and a skilled artist anyway for me to jump into the comic business. I like to read all answers, I like hearing what people think :) Help? please and thankyou.

A: all you can do is keep on drawing for know -- cultivate your own unique style. the comic book industry is looking for people who are totally original. take the art classes in your school to help you learn different drawing techniques. collect the best pieces of your art and keep them in a portfolio and present them to comic book publishers. yah gotta try try try ;p maybe you should post your art on deviantart.com. it's online community for artists. that's a great way to show your art to the world. you might get the attention you want someday. well good lucky to you then. dream big ;)

Q: I am opening a used book business and just wanted to know what are the best goals I can accomplish?
I would like ideas of short term, intermediate, and long term goals. Example of these goals will help my business succeed even more thank you

A: Short term goals: To learn how to price correctly - not too high so items won't be sold and not too low so you lose. My own short term goal when I start my business First Goal: not to lose money when I sell. Second Goal: to make enough money to live on frugally. Third Goal: to make enough money to live comfortably. Fourth Goal: Expansion into other avenues of business/products.

Q: Can someone recommend a good introductory book on Business/Management?
I am looking to study Business/Management masters program next year and I would like to have better understanding of areas such as Corporate Strategy, Economy, Marketing, Analysis and Management, Financial Resources And I wondered If theres a book that roughly covers these subjects and suitable for someone with non-related subject degree.

A: I personally like "Execution" by Bossidy and Charan, it says how poor managers either try to micro-manage or delegate everything. There is a fine line of "getting the hands dirty" as well developing employees. Jack Welch's books are really popular, but I'm not a fan of his vitality curve.

Q: Book about major figure in the world of business? any suggestions ?
Need a little help with Term project: “ The purpose of this project is to give you, the student, and an appreciation of the complex world of business and leadership. To this end the student will read a business book dealing with major figure in the world of business, for example, Jack Welch, Richard Branson, Martha Stewart or other famous business person…” Did anyone have any suggestions about the book? I don’t want to it to be too boring.. But I went to book store this weekend and got lost in the titles.. Can anyone advise any interesting book related to above?

A: If you're going to read about a business person, you might as well read about the best. Look up bios on Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. Their stories are very interesting.

Q: What book teaches about business deelopment and management ?
I'm looking for a book that will help me learn about business development and managerial skills. Things like contracts, bids, market development etc... Can someone tell me a list of good books? Thanks

A: I'm afraid i don't know a whole list of books. However I do know one. It is called "you've only got three seconds" by camille lavington. Its good book Bout first impressions and it can help you keep customers employees and it tells you the most effective way to make good impressions on people who are working above you.

Q: What would I look for in the phone book for a business advisor?
I'm hoping to start a new business in a city located about 1 hour from where I live. I'm hoping to get some advice etc, about the area and their thoughts on my idea. What would I look for though in the phone book?

A: Wow, how exciting. Owning your own business is a grand adventure. I wouldn't look in a phone book. The SBA offers a free service for new business call SCORE. They look at what business you are starting and team you up with an ex business exec that can help you with building your process. I would highly recommend using this.

Q: How do I publish and market a book on small business issues.?
I have written a lot of articles that I place on my website and in my monthly newsletter to small business owners. Now, I would like to pull from all those articles and write a book. I'm not sure where to get started. I'd also like to know the costs involved in printing and marketing the book.

A: Ask at your library for The Author's Toolkit: A Step-by-step Guide to Writing and Publishing Your Book.

Q: What's a good manufacturer that can put up together a comic book for my business class?
