Q: How do you do a split straight down the middle?
I can do a split but not staight down the middle. When I do a split I face my right leg and then I do a split but some people I have seen can do a split right down the middle while they are facing forward. Are there any kind of exercises I need to do or stretches I need to do in order to learn how to do the split?

A: i can do box splits? i think thats wat ur talkin bout...where u face the front then the split is the legs goin out on either side WARM UP FIRST u need 2 be prettti flexible anyway bt coz u can do scissor splits i guess youre okay. good exercises are to go on ur knees, then put each knee on either side of ur body and put the heels straight behind the knees...then stretch ur groin. lean forward as well umm others are to sit down normally. then u hav toput ur feet with the soles touching together, and bring ur feet up to ur bum. now try 2 get ur knees touching the floor. u can press them down with ur elbows too umm the lotus position? thats good too gd luk xxxx

Q: Forward Splits: Back Leg.?
Hi. I'm learning how to do forward splits and I know it'll take time so impatienct isn't the problem. When I go down into splits my back leg always bends so I end up doing more of a jazz split [herkie]. I've only just noticed this happening and I want to know how to stop it before I get into a bad habit. Is my hip position changing as I'm going into splits?

A: Ok.. for instance pretend your doing the splits hold onto something.. if you don't want to hold anything hold on to the floor.. do a lunge were the back leg is on the floor slightly bending and the first leg is bent fully.. try and do the splits by sliding down, without no hands (NOTE: make sure you've stretched all leg muscles!! Dont risk hurting yourself as this cn make your progress even slower) (Also, do this infront of a ling mirror so you cn spot yourself..) Once you've slid down as far as you can.. look at the mirror.. If you realise that you back leg is slightly bent but still inline then thats totally normal.. if your totally wonkatated.. then you need to realign yourself.. Also.. instead of doing just forward splits.. try and do middle splits aswell.. Keep trying you'll be splitting in no time!! Hope this helped = ]

Q: exercises to do a foward split!?
i'm an actor that's branching out into the dancing world. I'm pretty flexible but I can't quite pull of the forward split. was wondering if anyone knew some good exercises to help get to this point..thanks!

A: 1)go down to your fullest everyday for splits: - try front splits first, then followed by side splits... it is not easy, it is painful, but it works... 2)do sit-and-reach: - yours legs straight in front of you (together) and you push yourself down, try touching your knees with your nose... it may be painful too.if possible, as your parent, friend or anyone to push you down in order to stretch further... 3)do high kicks - stand up straight.kick your right left up to the highest (try to keep it straight, so is your left leg which is on the ground) do at least 10 times a day.then switch to your left leg.do the same thing for your left leg.make sure you kick really hard up high to feel the stretch at least. 4)pull your leg backwards - lie down somewhere (preferably bed for comfort).straighten both legs.then move your right leg (bended) to your chest.slowly straighten it and move it to your head.and try to pull it closer.but becareful not to hurt your muscles.don't overstretch.switch legs.do the same for left leg.must be able to feel the stretch then hold it there for maybe 1min or so.at your own count. 5)straddle - sit in a straddle (legs open to the widest possible when sitting down).then push your body down to the ground, all the way if can.you will feel the painful stretch.hold it there.then relax when you want.do it a few times.if possible, ask someone to push you down and hold it there for you. 6)another trying to split method - sit on your left leg bended.straighten the right leg in front of you.and then you push your left leg backwards all the way you can.this way you can improve on your front splits. you better warm up before doing any stretches or else you might end up hurting yourself! Hope this helps(:

Q: need help with forward splits.?
I've got the side splits down perfectly and these forward splits almost all the way down, but I can't seem to get that last little bit. Any ideas?

A: ok, first stretch your legs out, and do some other stretches before you stretch your splits. Then you just have to stretch your splits every single day! Just like the other person said, you can also watch tv or something while sitting in them because it can get very boring at some times. Just stretch them everyday for about 2 to 5 minutes per time. Hope it helped!

Q: split leaps?
I do a lot of ballet and I have to be able to do a straight forward split leap in 2 weeks. I can do the splits but when i try to do the leap i cant get into them... please help! :) x

A: To execute a split leap, in full split you have to have: the flexibility; even if you can do the splits on the floor, often you have to be comfortable in this and can extend further as it is hard to co-ordinate this in the air. You also require the height, as you have more time to extend your legs, so work on getting power from your legs to jump higher. A way in which I got my legs higher was to strap ankle weights around your ankles and then do your split leap- your legs will be low, but keep working and once you take them off they will be improved- it strengthens you. The amount of weight can vary, with your build and ability, etc... I used just 1kg on each leg, I think. Hope that helped. =)

Q: I haven't been able to compose, reply or forward for days, any suggestions?
I have dial up; we live so far from everything, we can't get anything else. When I click compose, reply or forward the tab rolls for a split second like it going to work, and then nothing happens. I have been using my Outlook to send messages, because we breed dogs, I need to use our alternative yahoo address. How do I set that up in Outlook?

A: Go To: "Options" "Block Addresses" Block or unblock Addresses here.

Q: Split Jump??
I really cant get my front leg high enough in my split jump. I do a mohawk tap into my jump and I can do a left leg forward split but I can't do it in my jump. Don't recommend ballet or asking my ballet teacher because I have. P-I-M-P, Figure skating is a sport! Thats why its in the sport section! And I want everyone to know it is a sport because people don't give us figure skaters much credit for doing what we do!

A: You should practice the split just off ice. You really need to strengthen you legs to get the legs higher. Off ice jump up and top a few times to warm up. Then pause for a second on the landing before jumping. Then work on the split jump. Try the jump that they do in cheerleading, those split jumps. Not too long you should see much improvement in yours.

Q: Help me with my forward splits?
When i do it my back leg bends n it is annoying Can someone plz help me

A: A Split is a body position in which the legs are parallel to each other and extended in opposite directions. Splits are performed in various athletic activities, including dance, figure skating, gymnastics, martial arts, synchronized swimming, and yoga. A person who has assumed a split position is said to be "in a split." When executing a split, the legs form an unusually large, 180 degree angle. This large angle significantly stretches, and thus mandates excellent flexibility of, the hamstring and iliopsoas muscles. Consequently, splits are often used as a stretching exercise to warm up and enhance the flexibility of the leg muscles. There are two general forms of splits: * Front splits are executed by extending one leg forward of the torso and the other leg to the rear of the torso. In dance, a front split is named according to the leg that is extended forward (e.g., the right leg is extended forward when executing a right split). * Side splits are executed by extending the legs to the left and right of the torso. Side splits are called straddle splits in dance and yoga, and may be referred to as Chinese splits in martial arts. Other names for side splits are box splits and center splits. Variations * A split leap is a split that is executed immediately after jumping, while still in the air. * In a suspended split, the body is elevated and supported only by objects under the feet while in a split. * Twisting splits, in which the performer transitions from front split to side split, and then to the opposite front split. * In an oversplit, the angle between the legs exceeds 180 degrees. * In an upside-down split, the split is performed upside-down Popular Culture Many people lack the flexibility required to execute a split and thus regard splits to be uncomfortable or even painful. Because of this widespread view, splits appear in slapstick comedy, schadenfreude, and other forms of entertainment. Actor Jean-Claude Van Damme is known for his splits, as is WWE Diva Melina, Pussycat Dolls member Kimberly Wyatt for her standing oversplit, and former WWE Wrestler Rob Van Dam.

Q: Is God geting ready to split the Democrat Party like the Red Sea?

Q: how do you do a split jump?
i can do the splits but i want to know how to do a split jump going forward and straddle. i try but just can't please help!!!

A: You mean a split leap? You wont get it the first time, even if you can do splits on ground. Work on it, practise it everyday. Do two gallops forwards and your front leg goes out slightly earlier than your the other. Use strength to lift your legs :D
